Acupuncture & TCM
The session uses a hands-on, palpation-based approach to assess the body for areas of imbalance. This approach helps identify key areas that need attention and allows the treatment to be tailored to the individual’s specific needs. The goal is to insert the needles as gently and painlessly as possible, while continuously monitoring the body’s response to ensure the treatment is both effective and comfortable. This method enables real-time adjustments and personalized care, making each session uniquely suited to promote healing and restore balance.
In addition to acupuncture, the session may incorporate other Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) modalities, such as fire cupping, gua sha (skin scraping), moxibustion (heat therapy), electrostimulation, and far-infrared heat lamp therapy, to achieve optimal results.

Q&A
What is acupuncture?
Acupncture is a traditiional chinese medicine practice develped in China thousands of yeas ago. In TCM theory, the body's vital energy (called "Qi") flows smoothly through specific pathways. When this energy is bloked or disrupted, it can lead to illness or discomfort. By inserting needles into specific points along these pathways, acupuncture aims to unblock the flow of the energy, restoring balance, and promoting the body's natural healing mechanisms.
Is acupuncture safe?
Yes, acupuncture is generally considered safe when performed by a qualified practitioner. However, as with many medical treatments, there are potential risks and side effects, such as tiredness, soreness, brusing, or bleeding at the insertion site. These risks are minimal and transient. and they usually clear within a few day. We use sterile, single-use disposal needles that are disposed of in a biohazard container after removal.
Is acupuncture painful?
The sensations experienced during acupuncture can vary from person to person, and for many individuals, acupuncture is not inherently painful. They may feel sensation like pressure, warmth, tingling, or even a dull ache, particularly at the site of needle insertion or along the body's vital force ('"Qi") pathways. Some acupuncture technique may invoke sensations like a dull ache or heaviness, but these sensation are often transient and can be part of the overall treatment experience.
My treatment style is based on TCM, but I also use palpation-based Japanse acupuncture methods known for being gentle, painless, and using a minimal amount of needles. We ensure that our clients feel safe and comfortable during the treatment.

Acupuncture is known for its cumulative effect, meaning several continuous sessions are often required. In general, acupuncture sessions can range from a few sessions to several months. Some clients experience significant changes within 2-4 weekly treatment, while others may require several months of treatment.
Your acupuncturist will asess your individual health needs and treatment goals during the initial consulation. Based on this assessment, they can provide personalized recommendations regarding the frequency and duration of acupuncture sessions needed to achieve the best results.
Is there any difference between acupuncture performed by physiotherapists and/or chiropractors compared to that performed by acupuncturists?
